I am a person who is drawn to the teachings of plants and the stories in dreams.

On a sailing trip through the discovery islands I had the opportunity to observe seaweed. Becoming absolutely curious, I wondered, how are they so beautiful? Why are they so slimy? This led me to a seaweed harvesting apprenticeship on Vancouver Island.

Immersion with seaweed harvesting brought the teachings of stretching and flowing with life. Not the grounding and stability that we are given by the earth, but the call to roll over our daily trials as the bull kelp rolls with the waves on days when the current isn’t asking her to stretch from the force.

To the core, we are a reflection of the deepest mysteries and beauty found in nature. And the quiet of a hot bath and the cool tickle of seaweed reminds me that my soul is that of a wild one.
